Tryouts
Hey Swimmers,
We’re excited to kick off another swim season, and we want everyone to come out and try out for the team! Whether you’re a returning swimmer or brand new to the program, don’t hold back—this is your chance to show us what you’ve got.
Here’s how tryouts and team placement will work:
Varsity Consideration
If you swim at or faster than our varsity consideration times, you’ll be in the mix for a varsity spot—but please know that hitting a time does not automatically guarantee placement. For example, a 25-second 50 free is a strong swim, but if several swimmers are already faster, varsity spots may be limited. We evaluate the full picture: times, consistency, effort, and competitiveness.
JV Team Expectations
To be considered for the JV team, swimmers must be able to swim all four strokes. JV placement will depend on skill level and the number of available roster spots.
How to Boost Your Chances
We don’t just look at the clock. A great attitude, strong work ethic, team spirit, and effort in every practice matter. Show us you’re coachable, committed, and ready to support your teammates.
Conditioning Is Key
Conditioning starts in January, and it’s a big deal. This is where the grind begins and where you prepare your body for tryouts. Showing up and putting in the work gives you a huge advantage.
Cuts & Exceptions
Yes, we will be making cuts this season. However, we understand that everyone’s situation is different. If you have concerns or special circumstances, please come talk to one of the coaches—we’re always willing to listen.
Bottom line: show up, work hard, and believe in yourself. We’re looking forward to seeing you on deck and can’t wait to see what this group can accomplish together.
You got this!
